The house you worked on at 239 Sixth Avenue was chosen as the winner of the Residential Heritage – Exterior Restoration, (Heritage Shield) Award at the 39th Annual Royal City Builders Awards.

Here is a house we were lucky enough to have worked on during the summer of 2009.

Originally built in 1916 it had its stucco siding removed and a considerable amount of siding replacement prior to painting. After filling and sanding which which was a week long process we applied a penetrating primer and let it sit for a couple of days. We then sprayed a first coat of exterior low luster Aura followed by a back roll and brush work between boards and again let it sit for a day. We then refilled-recaulked where needed primed on fresh repair work spot painted repair work and applied a second coat of paint. This was followed by a very light 3rd breeze coat which closed in all flashing and the odd section where we might have over lapped with the sprayer. All the trim windows and doors we brushed and everything we worked on received a sanding-dusting between coats.

Both owner’s of this home were very flexible and fully supported our method of application. With help from Benjamin Moore, 12th Street, New Westminster, we all decided on the best choice of paint, colour and scheme.
4 of us worked on this job and it took roughly 1 month to complete. A scaffold was erected where needed and we could not have carried out such a thorough job without it.

This finish will be good for years to come but like every heritage home may need a touch up here and there as maintaining a house like this is an ongoing project and a quick touch up can save a lot of money down the road.
